Super Chic Random Things
With links, of course. :)
Coffee service at The Row in Paris with compostable cups
I’ve been taking notes lately. Here are some of the things I’ve been wanting more of in my life because they’re just chic and good and make life feel elevated.
Compostable paper cups. At The Row’s PFW show in February, they served tea and coffee in these beautiful cups from Ogata, a Japanese brand. I ordered a bunch to keep at home for whenever we’re heading out with a drink to go. Honestly, I can’t think of anything less chic than single-use plastic, so these are the perfect alternative.
Classic, no logo belts. Specifically, Anderson’s belts. I was introduced to them by Christine Bowe, and they’ve quickly become my most-worn—probably because they’re so nondescript. Just classic. And of course, they’re Italian…
“Anderson's belts are lovingly handmade in Parma by craftsmen who are dedicated to honoring Northern Italian passions, skills and traditions—each design has over a hundred steps. An established authority for over 50 years, the house creates timeless leather classics.”
A cup of vintage silver spoons. My aunts taught me to collect silver spoons, and it turns out you can always use a cute little spoon—to taste a recipe, eat a yogurt, or stir your tea. I recommend picking them up whenever you find yourself at an estate sale or antique shop. They’re too expensive online, imo.
Single stem arrangements. I stay at The Mercer Hotel when I go to New York and they have such perfect flowers—always single stem. Last week, they had this incredible parrot tulip arrangement in my room, and at the front desk, there was a light blue Japanese delphinium that I just had to take a picture of for inspo. Similarly, in Paris, I took a picture of these gorgeous calla lilies from Castor Fleuriste.
Reading paper things. I recently subscribed to the WSJ on the weekends so I can sit on the couch with my matcha and read the newspaper. I love how good it is for my attention span—and this way, my kids aren’t seeing me on my phone. I’ve also been trying to read at least one book a month and highly recommend it as a goal. It gives me things to talk about with my friends, and it’s so fun to swap books. If you get bored easily like I do, I suggest picking books that move quickly like The Tell by Amy Griffin or Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
Silver picture frames. I picked up a bunch from the brand Edzard when I was in Austria, and oh, how I wish I had gotten more. They’re more expensive in the U.S. (close to $100), but I love how timeless they are. I’m also going to start searching for antique silver frames at estate sales.
Barely there makeup. When I was in Paris I was taking endless mental notes on what women were wearing and what was on their face - was it nothing? Was it something? I’ve been recreating the look at home with Saie’s famous no-makeup makeup products like Slip Tint, SuperSuede in Mia and Lip Liner 101 smudged all over my lips.
There you have it!
