This weekend I had 4 people separately compliment my skin. Someone actually said ‘you look so much younger than you did 3 years ago.’ I gently reminded them that I had a baby 3 years ago, was chronically sleep deprived and am just now starting to feel like myself again. But, I actually totally agree. In a lot of ways my skin is the best it’s ever been. Here’s what I think has made the biggest difference in my skin resulting in smoother, plumper and more even skin - aka my best skin ever.
I finally started using retinol last year. I had never found one that I could us until I discovered Medik8 for sensitive skin. It’s incredible. I use the beginner level. I notice a difference the next day!
I started using a toner/essence to my routine. This one from Royal Fern is like a drink of water for my skin. I’m on my third bottle of it! To apply I just pour some in my hand and splash/pat it on my face (morning and night).
I wear Slip Tint SPF 35 every single day. It’s sooooooo hydrating. And the licorice root extract brightens your skin over time. Plus the tint albeit sheer makes me look so much more pulled together. (I wear shade 3.5)
I’ve become religious about doing regular lasers at the dermatologist. I see Dr. Marnie Nussbaum in NYC and we do Clear and Brilliant every 3 months and Ultherapy once every year. I think these combined have made the biggest difference in my skin texture and firmness.
I get more regular facials. I used to struggle to see the value, but I think quarterly they really make a difference and are worth the investment. I go to Knockout Beauty in Bridgehampton but I also love Hydrafacial which you can get lots of places.
I drink a LOT of water (and try not to drink coffee). We got a household water filter that filters all of the water in our whole house (if you google it you can find a local company that does it) and then I use this water bottle in my office and refill it 4-5 times. Then I keep The Saie Water Bottle in my car to refill this car cup. I don’t buy single use water bottles (ever) so this way I always have lots of water on hand, and ways to refill.
Ok last thing before I sign off. Random but I need to share J.Crew was kind enough to let me pick out some pieces. Since I’m always stealing Shawn’s sweaters (he’s a saint) I figured I should get my own so I got a Men’s XL cashmere sweater and voila. I haven’t taken it off for more days than I should admit. As I’ve written about before, men’s sweaters are just chicer. The fit is slouchier and the cut more luxe imo. And it’s only $138 which feels like steal. Here’s the link.
That’s all for now! See you next week:)

My Slip Tint (also in 3.5!) has single-handedly made me feel more ~together~ in the mornings when I do school dropoff 🤍 My new holy grail xx
This is quickly becoming my new favorite Substack. Love all of it, Laney! 💜
